I dunno, when I put my Airaid on, it seemed different. I tested it with one of those plug in things, and I dun think there was a change. Of course, I don't think I had that thing calibrated correctly and I was using it on a hill, and it just wasn't an accurate test. I can definetly feel a difference once my tach hits 3000, it seems to take off then. Could be in my head, but I'm pretty damn sure its the less restrictive intake. And just b/c your truck comes a certain way does not mean its the best setup for it. It's the best setup for the average driver. It all depends on what you wanna do with the truck.

I haven't gotten to check in lately here. The rubber flap is between the headlight and side of the radiator. When you remove the flap, cooler air can flow through the "slot" toward the air box. The Fernco fitting has a wider "mouth" to catch some of that air, as well a from the right side fender opening that the OEM snorkel uses. I have driven in some absolute downpours with no problem whatsoever. The air filter is too far vertical in the air box to pull water up. Even if it did, the K&N is cleaned by water, so some incidental moisture is not a worry. My aluminum 3" tube homebrew is under the post "What is the best intake?". No pic, but mine is similar to the one Darcy did. If you keep your OEM parts, you can retro fit if you want; but after improving performance, that's highly unlikely.
