I installed the KRC 212s today. No check engine light, idle just about were it was at stock, but....a slight ticking ( tappet noise, valve clatter ) noise can be heard at idle. I was racking my brain thinking it might be a rocker slipped, then, I remembered, I did'nt install the new springs (KRC said they were'nt totally necessary ) and more importantly I totally forgot about the new lash caps (kicks my own a$$). My question is, do I need to go back in and install those lash caps ?????

I know you prolly didn't think of it, but you may want to contact a mod to delete your phone number from public view. Very dangerous--
for instance--- are in the A.F. or just live close by?

Paul, you don't need the KRC springs. They
are the HO springs that are rated just alittle
higher that the stockers. But you do need the
lash caps. Your KRC 212 cams are regrinds.
Nothing wrong with that, but to make the cam
to Marty's specs. they make the cam circle
smaller and reshape it. The lash caps fill the
void space and gets you to the required lift.
Without them your lift and duration will be less
that stock.

Thanks Jeep Guy, I thought so but I was hoping I did'nt have to go back in there. It was'nt that bad though, 5 hours. Probably shorter this time. I called Marty and talked to him about it too. I was just so excited to get those 212s in I forgot the caps. They are gonna rock !!

Do you have an auto???? I've been waiting to
see how the 212's will idle with an auto. After
you put the lash caps in you still will get alittle
ticking noise, but that's normal. Good Luck!!

I have the 5 speed. I can't wait to run it with those in. I can't get back in the shop till Saturday. So on those lash caps, looking down on the cap, there are 2 flat sides and 2 rounded sides. I take it the flat side runs the length of the rocker and the rounded side is towards the tip of the rockers? Thanks again.
