Stupid question, but do you have to buy the complete skid plate kit or could someone just buy the parts he/she needs? Reason being I broke my xfer case plate (yes, the plastic one) on my last trip to the dunes --- damn I hate those high centered hits ;o). Would it be possible to buy just that part of the kit? Lemme know! Thanks

Hey Blizzard,
You're better off getting the steel skid plate for the motor and tranfer case. Take a good look at those plastic skid plates, junk!!! They look strong but any center hit and it ends up breaking. I got my plates from FOURXFORE and I'm happy as hell. Plus the plates from FOURXFORE are a little wider so you have more protection.

The only problem with having just one made is the same problem I have when ordering them by ones, the minimum charge is what kills. The layout is so easy it is not the amount of time or the material it is a minimum job. I would like to be able to charge as little as possible for the plates but I do not want to have a bunch made and not sell them. I am looking in to some other ways of having these made but I am told the cost would be about the same.
I may be able to do this for you when I get more orders. I will keep you posted.
On another note I went down to see Hansen enterprises.com in Salinas CA. Wayne is a great guy and does great work. I got to see some of his works in progress. I did not see any of the Dakota bumpers But I saw the other works that are not even available yet. He is a true master of crafting. He does say if you want to custom order something special it could take 6-9 months of R&D before he gets one punched out. He has all of the specs on the Dakota bumper ready so when you order it only takes a couple weeks to finish.
I recommend this bumper to those who are looking for quality work and looks. For the price he is asking it is worth it. If I just had the cash to get one now.

So most of you have 3 Skid Plates under your trucks. Mopar offeres a steal one for the gas tank right? Because I talked to the guys at the Dodge dealer and they say that Mopar doesn't have ANY skid plates for the Dakota. All I want is to cover the bottom of my truck w/ a good 1/4's of steel..

Yes you can get the Fuel tank plate from Mopar. only had the Transfer case and engine plates made since they are so weak.
The plates as an option are $130.00 but to but a whole set all 3 from Moparit is $185. or more. It depends on the dealer and if they are even going to try and find them for you. THe fuel tank plate is about $90. alone and made of thin metal but it will do.
I say protection is key. You never know when you may need that protection even just once. As you know 1 hit in the wrong place and you are out some bucks let alone probably stuck in the middle of no where.
I love the posts from all of the perfect four wheelers who say if you play it safe, take it slow and easy you will never need a plate or damage anything. I wheel with 20 year experienced wheeler's and they won't go out without a plate. The unknown is inveitable at some point especially when we go out. No road No problem!

I'm fairly sure that Fourxfore is no longer making them. But if he was... and I didn't buy this suspension lift (pain in the butt is what it really is) I'd be grabbing some.. Infact I have a check made out to him laying on my desk right now. I was going to order them they day I found out about the suspension lift.

I can still get these made but I am in the final stages of DRAWINGS. YEP!, I got out my drafting equip and skills from the 9th grade and made up drawings. Since I am not a skilled draftsman the drawings are or can be confusing but all of the measurements and angles are there.
These drawings can most likely be used to modify for a lift.
I will make a formal post when they are done.
I can still have the Fab guy cut them if know one wants to deal with finding one and dealing with that industry.

No problem I will send them out to those who want them. I am going to scan them so I can attatch them in an e-mail. I will send you a copy and if you can make head or tails from it and make them more clear that would be great.
You can keep them and pass them out for all I care at this point. The Fab guy I use has OK but I decided that I should make these drawings since I know most really want them but do not want to go through the hassle of shipping and waiting.
I am sure allot of fellow owners would appriciate our work!

We have the plans now available for those who want them.

The plans will work for the lifted trucks to but you will need to verify the distance from the mounting holes in front to below the front transfer case for clearance. I beleive that is all that will change and maybe at that. I have not seen a Body lift or suspesion lifted truck up close yet.
