 Subject: '01 CV Axle Removal QTN?

How do you get the drivers side front CV Axle to come loose from the Differential? I thought these things just popped loosed. Is there a C-Clip inside the differential? I couldnt figure out how to get the pinion shaft lock screw out to remove it so i could push the axle in to check. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

my 2000 just popped out... the axle shaft and all ... but it came out

It will pop out but it probably won't do it willingly. It has a spring clip inside of the diff, however there is no need to pull the cover. The easiest way to go about it is to get a couple of prybars and pry on both sides of the inner cv joint at the same time to get the spring clip to let go. When you go back together with the axle just push as hard as you can untill the clip seats itself again. Sometimes those clips can be a real pain in the a$$ so good luck.
