Did any-one read the latest edition of 4wheeler and Off-Road magazine?
They compared the AAM-11.50 to the D.80 axel.
After all the test was done they concluded that there both equal in many places.
I think the Ford Super Duty still uses the D-80 and the 99-01 Rams also used the strong D-80 for one ton use while GM is useing the American 11.50
Now that Dodge is useing the AAM 11.50 for the S.W&D.W one ton trucks. Do you think they are more suitable for the H.0 Cummins boosted to over 600 ftlbs of toruqe?

the new dodge 2500 and 3500 have AAM axles, which have been under GM's for quite awhile, but are a bit different. its basically just a new partnership instead of Dana. As for more strength? I would assume they are close, but as far as 600 ft'lbs? where are you getting that from? maybe aftermarket. with it being stuffed under a duelly, i would think it has no problem, but in 4Wheel and off road, their ultimate Superduty grenaded a 80, so they can always have failures.

Even the D-60 is a solid built axel. I remember reading in 4wheeler back in '99 that the Ram HD they were testing out;while going up a hill in low rang the yokes broke off from the U joint that was conected to the front axel.
I've read the new issue of 4W/OFF-Road and think it was not surpised of the conclusion from the test. AAM is given Dana a run for there market.
TRUE, The H.O Cummins put out over 600 ftlbs with the beefup Ho version. I just wonder how will the 48RE auto hold up?
