Subject: Power Lock Problem - Which Part??
IP: Logged

Message:
Greetings from Amarillo, Texas. I have a 2002 Quad Cab Sport 4.7L V8 with power locks...except the driver-side power lock no longer works. I looked up the problem on here and it was addressed several times, but as I search for the right replacement part, I am coming across a "naming" issue. There are three or four terms being tossed around for seemingly the same part and I need to know which one I am looking for. From everything I have read on here, I need to replace the door solenoid, but I've seen people with the same problem told they need to replace the actuator...and still others who are told they need to replace the door cylinder. The Haynes manual refers to it as the "latch cylinder"...though the diagram they show doesn't seem to match up with what's in the door of my truck. The prices I'm being quoted by the dealerships around here are between 120 and 140 bucks for the "door solenoid assembly"...but I found a "lock cylinder" on Wyckoff Auto Parts website for $42.04. Is this the same part?? Can someone please clarify some of the terminology so I buy the right part and don't pay for something I don't need? Thanks in advance!
