I haven't had to mess with it on the newer trucks but on the older ones it was on the passenger side firewall. Looks like a black rectangle with male flat blade posts on it and a big black plug connecting to them. Take it off clean off the terminals and try again, that usually works.

Mine had a similar problem and the dealer replaced all the heater components before they found the real problem. It was a screw through the dash that the factory installed. It had rubbed the insulation off of two wires and was grounding them out. It took it two years to do this. Might want to check it out.

Myblower resistor went bad couple weeks ago on my 2001. Its about a 17 dollar piece (which is probably way too much) and is actually inside the duct work so it keeps cool. Passenger side on the floor. If you know where the blower motor is the its towards the center of the truck in the duct work. ITs held in there by two screws and you may have to get way down there to see it. You will for sure need a flashlight and a small socket. Good luck and just let me know if you need any more help.

So, is it the board that is bad or the entire connector? My board seems secured onto the connector, though it looks like it is melted onto it. Thanks anyone.

On my 95 the 3 lower settings work. The highest setting doesn't. It's not in the switch, I tried that. I guess I'll have to search for the relay.

I don't F---ing believe it. One 5 prong plug on the firewall was the problem. I just unplugged it, cleaned the contacts, and put it back. High speed fan is working again. This, after taking the dash apart and checking the control switch. I'd upload a picture of it if I could.

It looks like Will was right! Sure saved me a lot of hassle. I was ready to tear out the blower motor.

You guys were right... I found the relay module on the passenger side firewall in the engine compartment. It had two screws holding it on... I unpluged the harness and removed the relay. It had a broken wire. I soldered it back on, it works great... My fan did not work at all.. Saved me big bucks probably...
Mine is a 92 Dakota V8.. 78,000 miles First time this has happen

My fan stopped working the other day on my 2001. I did notice a smell a couple of days before it stopped working. Any ideas what the cause might be?
