Subject: Off topic: Is the Ram any more reliable?

I was wondering...

After talking with a family friend that works for a major Dodge dealer here in Houston (the guy who will sell me a Dak at 400 dollars over dealer cost), I asked him about the Ram Quad Cab and he said he could get me a better deal on the Ram 1500 Quad Cab than he could on the Dak Quad Cab (??).

I have a cousin that bought a 2002 Ram Quad Cab about 4 months ago and loves it, but know no one that has owned one for an extended period of time. I have driven his 4.7 Ram and liked it alot. It is roomy and comfortable to cruise around in and looks good, too. Love the 20" wheels and sitting way up high!

Anyone out there know if the Ram is more or less reliable than the Dakota?

I hear about the ball joint and brake rotor problems on the Dak...do these problems apply to the Ram as well? How about the soft paint issue on the Dak...does that apply to the Ram as well?

Are there any problems people are having with the Rams that I should know about?

I dunno, but if I can get the bigger Ram for less than the Dak (I didn't ask him WHY it is less...but I will), I might go for the cool looking new Ram.

Any opnions from Ram owners? Anyone know about Rams in general? Are they more troublesome than the Dakotas?

I'll stick with buying the 4.7 Dak QC if the Ram is more problematic, but the idea that the bigger Ram is within my reach makes it awful tempting.

Thanks!
