Hello, all!

I own a beautiful 2000 slt king cab 4x4 w/ the 4.7. I special ordered it with a manual transmission and the low ratio rear end. (I guess I would really like a 4x4 RT.)

The clutch suddenly fried last week during a shift from 2nd to 3rd. It was not a gradual wearing out like when you feel a clutch start to slip. I probably drive this truck harder than most people would, but I "BABY" the clutch, and it only has 15,000 miles on it. I have not even towed anything yet.

Well, warranty only covers Dakota clutches to 12,000 miles, and the dealer did not identify any cause for the clutch wearing out other than "wear and tear". So the bill is about $1200. I'm trying to get Chrysler to pick up at least part of the tab. I'm open to suggestions on how to do this.

Has anyone else had problems like this?

Thanks for your comments--Will

Damn my clutch went at about the same mileage but it only cost me 700.00 for the dealer to put in a new one. It was the same was it just went one day. the clutch was fried broke plate and had to turn the flywheel trans went right after that.

The service manager at the dealership also gave me a bunch of crap about having dirt and sand on the top side of the skid plate they pulled off.

What a f&*$ing joke. This is a 4x4. Speaking of such. I've been waiting patiently for over a year for the front tow hooks to come in. I personally believe that a 4x4 shouldn't be made without towhooks. --Will
