I'm posting this just to see where gas prices stand at this time throughout the country. After hitting a high of $3.09 per gallon in Lexington, Kentucky, the price has decreased to $2.75 per gallon. Where are you from and how much are you now paying? I'm just curious to see if the price is decreasing across the board.

Please, no finger pointing/blaming for the high prices. We all have our opinions as to what happened, but I'm just curious as to what others are paying. Let's keep this civil please.

Saw it for $2.89 at a Shell in Troy, OH the other day and $2.77 somewhere off I-75 just north of Dayton, OH.

Fort wayne, IN: 2.89 for 87, 2.99 for 89, 3.09 for 93. What doesn't make sense is that you can get half 87 and half 93 to make 90 octane a pay less then you have too for 89. Or is there something so that doesnt work right with my equation. Just a thought.

Since I started this thread I'll add another. Lexington KY this morning...$2.71 for 87.

Looks like Georgia has the cheapest so far which is not surprising. When we drive to visit the wife's family in GA, they are normally 10+ cents cheaper per gallon than what I pay in KY.

State finds only 25 potential gas-gougers

The Associated Press
Published on: 09/14/05

Revenue agents dispatched to look for price gouging at 392 gas stations across Georgia found only 25 retailers with prices high enough to warrant investigation, state officials said Wednesday.

Agents checked gas prices in 11 Georgia counties Tuesday, mostly in metropolitan areas. The sweep was aimed to enforce the monthlong gas tax rollback Gov. Sonny Perdue ordered Sept. 2, after fuel prices soared above $3 on the heels of Hurricane Katrina.

Only 25 stations — or 6 percent — were selling regular unleaded gas at or above $2.90 per gallon, the price agents considered potential gouging, said Charles Willey, spokesman for the state Department of Revenue.

"I think it indicates people are observing the (tax) moratorium and are playing by the rules," Willey said. "Out of that 25 we may find there's a portion of those that were legitimately charging $2.90."

Agents found only three stations charging $3-a-gallon or more — in metro Atlanta, Macon and Columbus. The highest unleaded price, $3.29, was found in a sweep of south Fulton, Henry and Clayton counties.

Of the stations charging $2.90 or more, there were seven in the Columbus area, six in Gwinnett County and Athens-Clarke County, three in southern metro Atlanta, three in the Savannah area, three in the Albany area, two in the Macon area and one in Cherokee County.

The average gas price in Georgia on Tuesday was $2.83 per gallon, according to AAA Auto Club.

Investigators plan to check the 25 stations' records for how much the retailers paid for their gas compared with their selling price before and after Perdue ordered the tax moratorium.

Retailers found to have increased their profits by pocketing the tax break — an estimated 15 cents per gallon — rather than passing it on to consumers could face fines of $2,000 to $25,000 per incident.

The Georgia Consumer Affairs Office has already notified 29 retailers they face potential legal action and has asked 52 others for records justifying their prices.

Gunner,

My first reaction is to say you suck..lol.

Just jealous you get the gas that cheap (yeah, pretty bad I think $2.49 per gallon is a bargain).

Still $2.71 here in Lexington, but at least we're not in NY!

$2.77/gal here in northern West Virginia panhandle. Also, I would like to revise on Super-Bee's statement. While some of our dak's (performance tuned) Will run terrible and get bad gas mileage running 87, MOST of them (v6's and 4.7, and 318) wil run BETTER and get BETTER gas mileage running 87 octane as this is what these engines are tuned to run on from factory. No offense meant by this, just fact. Search the posts on this and you will find many people stating this. I don't say this because of them, but due to the fact that I have some education on modern combustion engines and their manufacturers. Just My 2 Cents.
