when I bought my dakota I was really impressed with the look which by the way has gone to pot with the 05's dakotas and durango's and performance. I guess I should have lit up on the test drive because I did not notice until the next day that there was no ashtay or lighter. what the hell. The 2nd favorite thing to do in my ride is to light up. 1st to check out all the women. Just sort of venting. I just hate to get ashes in my drink and all over my interior cause either ash in a can or out the window. It is especially a pain at night cause there is no light down in the cup holder area. I would hate to use a plug in light cause then where would I put the ligher that does not come with the truck? I know just do not smoke

Sucks to be you man! That's big brother in action. First banning smoking in restaurants, then all public places in the entire state and now your personal vehicle.

My favorite things to do while driving is to smoke a butt and drink a beer. Funny thing the beer cans fit perfectly in the cupholders. They even expand to hold a double deuce!

I think there's a deal called a "Smoker's Package" you can get in order to have the ashtray and lighter. Even though I don't smoke and never will (unless someone lights me on fire, ha ha) I kind of liked having the ashtray just to stick odd bits of garbage in, and you never know when you'll need that lighter...

Straight Edge here...so I too will never smoke (never tried it either), but yeah... the ashtray IS useful even for us non-smokers. Holds a garage door opener or a cb mic pretty nicely. lol
