Hey Bob,

Can you get that in writing? There's quite a few people wanting to put Synthetic in their diffs and the dealers seem to be giving them a ration of crap for it. You know...the usual: "It'll void the warranty..." deal.

Thanks,

Bernd I'm taking it to the dealer Mon.Thats what they told me...is that cool or what.I will try to get that in writhing, plus I'm going to hang around to see that for my self, also I want it on paper about the rear end wine and freaking foam.I'll let ever one know if they tryed to jerk me.My sales man said I could use his demo to go around town when they work on it,but I will be checking out there work. They also told me that the OD is make to work when the tork converter is up to heat...they where blowing the trans right and left before they added the heat sensor.

Russ-I don't think there is a problem with the ODs...wonder what trans the service manager was talking about.I think some people drive the crap out of them...if they drive all the time with there petal to the metal... sooner or later they will blow it up.Russ I know that all auto makers have there problems. Thats my $.002s

I agree 100% Bob,but i have to say this little hot-rod has me pushing harder than any of my old trucks, mostly because something actually happens when you get your foot into it.While I got your attention I checked my oil filler cap which is like a built in funnel, there is no foam on the outside but a trace inside the cap,11000 mi.Is this what you are talking about with the TSB?

Russ some 4.7L owners...including my 4.7L have had brown foam inside the filler tube and on the cap.DC says it is ok,there is no fix...the TSB says there is no fix. There is a post on foaming, but I can't find it.I think people that live in cold weather are more prone to getting it...that big oil tube gets all the cold air on it and the inside is very hot(makes foam)that is only my opinion.Russ is worm where you live?

Bernd--Up date on the rear end oil...Friday they tell me there is a TSB on my 00 L-slip...they will put in synthetic oil.I took it in today...they side there is no TSB for my 00,they said the TSB must be for the 01.(Da)Also I told them to make note on the work order of the foam on the filler tube and cap. This is what they wrote on the work order..."oil filler tube gets like a Milk Shake TSB? 150 engine concerns".Service advisor said DC sent a TSB to all oil change shops, telling them it is normal.

You are right about the waffling on the diff.I told them also about my diff. Howling and had them document it for me.The flavor of the day that changed my oil said they would fix it. I said no thank you.(I got the 5 year or 75 thousand mile bumper to bumper warranty.)If it goes out they can rebuild the hole dam thing)I asked the flavor of the day how many quarts of oil do you put in a 4.7L and he said 5 to 5 1/2.(DAA)I told him the flecking manual said 6 with a filter.I hate to go to the dealers garage.

I need to ask a question about a Dodge but not a truck. We have a 1995 Dodge Stratus which we've had two people to tell us the tork converter is bad on the transmission. One price is 800.00 and another is 340.00. We are going to go with the price of 340.00. But it will be about a month before we can afford it. We have been told by two other people that the tork converter can be took off or disconnected and it would be ok to drive it without a tork converter. Is this right? Both are good machanics. One used to work on transmissions before he hut his back. But my husband says you can't drive it without it. We need the car but don't want to tear it up anymore than what it is. It is an automatic. Thanks for you answer, if you can.
