Subject: Amp Remote Help IP: Logged
Message: Well I just got my 2 10 inch JL's (10w0)in my thunderform now here's the problem: I'm using the factory CD head (I guess it's infinity cause thats what the tweets on the door say)I've got the rear outputs into an Audio Control EQX then to an PG MS275(Yeah, I know the stuff is legacy but it still sounds good)but I can't seem to find a remote or accessory wire to tap into niether in the engine bay or on the dash fuse panel...I'm thinking of taping into the cig lighter but I'm not too sure about that I don't want to cook the amp and 'Q. Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated cause I'm tired of poppin' the hood to pull my fuse.
Thanks,
Stiinc

Message: dont use cig lighter power, its ussualy on all the time. u dont want that, find something in the fuse panel that comes on when key is turned, ignition power is what i mean, tap into that and use that as the remote, run a fuse inline of your remote wire if you want just to be extra safe,,

Infinity doesn't make radios. It's probably either Mitsubishi or Alpine.
"but I can't seem to find a remote or accessory wire to tap into niether in the engine bay or on the dash fuse panel."
Pin 7 on the black radio connector is a "power antenna" lead, which will function as a remote lead (will power up when the radio turns on.) If pin 7 isn't populated with a wire in the black connector (which is possible) then you might be able to come up with a way to get a wire in there.

Message: take off the panel under the steering column.
there is a bunch of wires coming from the steering wheel area. splice into the THICK DARK GREEN wire.
your amp will turn on with the ignition in the ON position. it will turn off when you turn off the truck. it will not turn on when the key is turned to the back ACC position.
thats how im running mine, i also put a switch in that line, so i can turn the amp off while im driving if i like.

Message: Thanks guys, just needed a little more info before I started tearing into the dash, I'm still a little nervous ripping apart panels in the Dak (My old Cav' rocked but when I sold it it looked like swiss cheese so I'm thinking about resale value this time round!)
Thanks again,
Stiinc

Message: Don't use the power antenna lead or the amp would only come on when you listen to the radio not a cd... I just tapped the auxillary power output and put switches for my amps. My situation is a little different as I have 4 batteries and run the stereo with the truck off at shows and such. If you have a test light or voltage meter just hook your ground and start touching connectors until you get power and then tap your wire. The remote draw is so small you won't pop fuses from whatever you tap into unless there is a problem.

That's true for many aftermarket radios, but not necessarily for factory ones.

Dont use a test light, could set off airbags. Only use a volage meter just to be safe. Nothing worse than having the airbags go off with your head or neck right next to them. Could hurt!
