I have a problem. I have a 2002 dakota reg cab, and I need to upgrade the stereo system. I have no room behind the seat for any type of box. Would I be better off just upgrading the door speakers and rear speakers, and getting an aftermarket cd player? Is there even a universal stereo mount for the 2002's yet? I noticed it had a rounded dash hole. All the stereo's i've installed in the past used a standered universal stereo mount. I'm willing to spend around 350 to 400 bucks. I don't need bone crushing base, I just want a better sound. The less money, the better. Help me out yall.

Yes they make a kit to install any standard DIN size radio into the dash. A set of components up front would be a BIG improvement over the factory junk. Later you could add a small amp under the seat for a little extra kick.

i have an 02 reg cab and if you want killer sound not really just base get a pair of kicker solo barics l7 8" square subs i have measured it out and and dont have to move the seat a notch. the l7 handles 75-450 watts rms each and require an air space of only .33 cubic feet. the closer to the minimum air space the tighter the base. like if you listen to rock like slipknot you here every beat.

my box for one sub is like two boxes only not seperated i have a bottom section which its inside diameter is 15" wide, 7 deep, and 2 high and on top of that there is 15 wide, bottom depth of 7, and top depth of 2, back heighth is 8, and then you just put a face on it. it comes to .40 cubic feet.

soory for such a long post got carried away
