Subject: fit some subwoofers in a QC???
IP: Logged

Message:
anyone know where you can fit some subwoofers in a quad cab without ripping out a backseat or porting from the bed??? and don't say the center console, I think I'm gonna put a CD changer in there. Thanks for any ideas.

Not for sure, but I would think you could put a Bazooka under the back seat. Might stick out a little.

I am going to try and put my tube there when/if I ever get my QC

There's barely enough room for an amp under the seat, and next to no room behind.

I've got a free standing box. I flip up the rear seat on the driver side, and it sits there. It's on quick connects so I can easily take it out if I need the seat.

I think I'm gonna look up those bazooka tubes to see what the smallest diameter is... I think 6" would be too big for the on the floor behind the seat... I've got a few things stored back there like a small fire extinguisher and rope and a flashlight, so there is a little room. The free standing box isn't a bad idea. I went to one place that does custom jobs, and he was saying I had no room for anything unless I wanted the smaller section of the bench seat taken right outta my truck and they could build something into that corner. I got the truck because of all the room so that was outta the question.
More ideas are welcomed!!

Bazooka your Dakota???? Why??? Does the enemy have it??? Just kidding!!!!!!! One friendly word of advise, Turn that bad boy up enuogh and over time you will literaly vibrate your vehicle apart, any vehicle. I have the Infinity sound system in mine and every time I pull up next to a ghetto car I get some funny looks from the guys inside, like "wassup with da noise outa yer truck ol man?" It vibates back at em when I turn up the bass and down the treble.

I'm not sure about the quad cab but MTX makes a replacement box with a 8 or 10" sub in it that takes place of the storage space under the rear seats in a club cab. I personally just pulled out the rear seats and replaced them with 4 12" subs, I didn't want to be a "taxi" to all my friends.

Kove Audio makes a 6 inch sub that could go under
the seat. There is a place in Huntsville Alabama
called Boneshakers that can design you a box.
There number is 256-880-0840

It fits under the rear seat of a Quad Cab? I doubt it.

As for a 6" "sub", you're not going to get any low bass unless you use a bandpass box with a bunch of woofers and a zillion watts. 4 6" drivers roughly equals one 12" in surface area, and their Vmax (and therefor stroke volume) is going to be a lot less.

You'd be better off with a Bazooka, which is saying something.

Under the front Seat is where the Kove would go.
I(t might not give you ther boom boom but it will
make a good head unit with amp sound good.

Why not put the CD changer under the seats (front OR rear) and then put a single
8" (or maybe even a 10") in a custom center console?
I'm looking to get a QC and that's my plan. The Kicker Solo-barics fit in a TINY air
space and sound great if you have the amp power for them

why couldn't you have a center console type cabinet built for the back seat area? like the jl stealth box for the ram cc? that should work, I guess.

I might do that.

so, basically, you guys say a 8" bazooka won't fit under the back seat of a QC? If so, I guess I will have to sell mine when I get my QC =(

I have 3 8 inch jl w3's behind the rear seat. and two sony amps under the two front seats, A sony deck and 10 disk changer in the center consol and A.D.S. 6 inch separates up front and rear. The thing slams and sounds really good for not spending too much cash. the rear sub box only keeps the seats from folding up. if you can live with that then it is the best way to go.. you can also fit 2 10 inch subs if you wish but they have to be shallow in depth.

In my CC I pulled apart the entire backseat and built a custom box in the place of the tool tray for 2 10's and an amp rack in the center... it really slams but it will rattle apart one of these trucks over time...

and fill 'em with:

CDT MS-100 10" Subwoofer w/ 4ohm voice coil - 150 watts RMS 10": .45-.90 cu.ft

the boxes fit perfect, even better if you take out the plastic vents in the back wall

haven't heard the subs yet.

Try www.crutchfield.com they have a custom box that replace the tool box under the rear seat in the club cab trucks, it will hold 2 10" subs, or you can get it w/2 subs already installed, or buy it w/2 subs + an amp already with it, plus if you don't use your toolbox under the seat, it completely out of the way and you lose no space. prices are really good too, plus they give you 30 days to try it, if you dont like it you can send it back.....

How about doing a search on this subject, or just look in custom audio. There are tons of posts on this already.

MTX makes a box that fits under the back seat and all you have to do is take out the plastic storage contains. The MTX box fits two tens of any kind. And the box has a place to put your jack and tools included.
